Laser Dentistry
What is Laser Dentistry?
Laser is an acronym that means Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, also known as energy in the form of light. Laser Dentistry is a fast, effective, noiseless and versatile method of performing dental procedures. Laser Dentistry initially gained ground in 2008. Today, Laser Dentistry is a standard practice that the most up-to-date, modern, and skilled professionals use in their dental work. Joseph Lichter D.D.S. is among those dentists who practice at the highest level of efficiency and safety.
What are some applications for Laser Dentistry?
Laser Dentistry allows for greater precision, little to no pain and many positive results for our patients. Laser can replace invasive cutting instruments and dental drills, as well as assist greatly with patient comfortability. The Laser can be used for many dental procedures such as curing while strengthening the bond in a filling or as an alternative to cutting to reduce bleeding and enhance healing while minimizing damage to the surrounding tissues. The laser can also be used for heating during whitening procedures to enhance the effects of the bleaching agents to create whiter smiles in less time. Lasers can be used during hard tissue procedures for early cavity detection, bacterial reduction and sealing tubules responsible for heat and cold sensitivity. Soft tissue procedures use lasers for reshaping gum tissue, laser frenectomy for babies and for the removal of soft tissue folds from dentures.
